Ubisoft Dropping Free NFTs for ‘Champions Tactics’ Game on Ethereum
Ubisoft plans to distribute complimentary Ethereum NFTs through a free minting event for its upcoming game, Champions Tactics, set to be hosted on Oasys. The game is developed by the creators of Assassin’s Creed.
While gamers may have expressed discontent when Ubisoft, the prominent publisher of games like Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance, introduced Tezos NFTs to Ghost Recon Breakpoint in 2021, the company remains enthusiastic about blockchain technology. Ubisoft will conduct a complimentary Ethereum NFT mint for its forthcoming game.
Ubisoft revealed on Thursday, through a Twitter announcement, its plans to conduct a complimentary NFT mint for a series of profile pictures (PFPs) associated with Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles. This upcoming game is slated to be developed on the gaming-centric Oasys blockchain. Participants will only be required to cover Ethereum network gas fees for the NFT minting process.

The Warlords PFPs showcase a design reminiscent of pixelated heroes from classic games. As outlined on the official website, owning Warlords NFTs grants early access for holders to mint the eventual in-game Champions figurines, which will also be provided at no cost.
There will be a production of 9,999 Warlords NFTs, with 8,000 accessible through the minting process, an additional 1,000 allocated to the Oasys community, and 999 retained by Ubisoft for future marketing initiatives and giveaways.
Ubisoft is urging Twitter users to engage with its announcement tweet by liking, retweeting, and commenting to be included in the allowlist for NFT minting. The company has committed to selecting 50 randomly eligible users for the allowlist, granting them access to an exclusive Discord server dedicated to the game.
Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles was initially unveiled during the summer, and in recent weeks, Ubisoft has been progressively revealing additional details about this cryptocurrency-centric game.
Information so far indicates the development of an online strategy game where players engage in battles using fantasy characters. The game features “thousands of unique, powerful Champions” resembling tabletop figurines. Additionally, Ubisoft has unveiled images resembling trading cards, potentially introducing another dimension to the strategic gaming experience.
As per the official website, Champions Tactics is scheduled for a PC release in early 2024.
