SARAH, web3earner:
Welcome back to our Meet a Builder interview series, where I have the pleasure of talking to the teams behind your favourite web3 earning projects. My name is Sarah, and today I have Thomas from the Faraland team with me.
In this week’s interview, we get to take a deep dive into Faraland, one of the very first play-to-earn NFT games built on the Binance Smart Chain.
With a unique focus on animated NFTs, an engaging and exciting storyline and strong play-2-earn mechanics, Faraland is a must for all NFT and gaming enthusiasts.
Thomas, how are you going today?
THOMAS, Faraland: Yeah I’m doing great. Thank you very much for the introduction of our project.
THOMAS: So let me just briefly introduce myself a little bit. My name is Thomas and I am currently working as a Business Development Executive at Faraland. So in today’s interview we are are going to be digging deep into Faraland, our project.
SARAH: Lovely well can you start us off by giving us a brief explanation as to what Faraland is?
THOMAS: So to keep it simple, Faraland is a role-playing strategy war game that you can find on our official website and it is currently available on two platforms, they are Android and iOS. It has been developed on blockchain by our mother company Moon Knight Labs.
The players in the game will be controlling the characters from The Seven Races of Faraland, humans, orcs, elves, fairies, dragons, angels and demons. These will have different abilities, strengths, intelligence and appearances.
SARAH: Amazing, it sounds a lot like Lord of the Rings actually.
THOMAS: Yeah, there is much resemblance between the two.
SARAH: Yeah awesome, that was a great explanation thanks Thomas.
SARAH: Can you tell us how people can earn with Faraland?
THOMAS: In Faraland there are several ways that people can earn. So first off, I’ll mention the simplest ways to buy and sell NFTs. Aside from getting NFTs from other players you can also generate NFTs from within the game. When in the game, there is a game mode called PVE, player-versus-environment. You can go farming and then you can gain your loot for NFT materials for the game. You can then either choose to sell those NFTs or to use them to craft out new and more powerful NFT equipment. So that’s how you earn from creating and trading NFTs from within the game.
Besides that, there are also several more features in the game that can let players earn a profit from. There’s a feature called Lady of the Lake, where you can throw a piece of equipment in there and expect something better to come out and something more valuable to come out.
SARAH: Awesome I love that, that system of creating and being able to create your own NFTs from different parts and then being able to either sell it or bring something to life, that’s really beautiful. It’s a very cool feature.
SARAH: And finally, can you give us an update or development within the Faraland ecosystem and what impact will it have on people earning within web3?
THOMAS: So actually, we are currently working on closing deals with various brands in order to offer our users new rewards in the game. This is a quite lengthy process and we’re still trying to perfect it. Our ultimate goal is to increase the number of rewards for users and to shift the perception of earning in GameFi towards another direction.
So far, GameFi has only been able to offer token earnings from profit e.g profits from selling NFTs, but this hasn’t brought much stability to projects. This also means that earning will gradually decrease in value alongside the token price. What we’re trying to say here, is instead we should focus on rewards that are more relevant to our daily life such as projects trying to partner up with local brands or global brands like Starbucks, to allow users to earn their vouchers for their coffee in the form of NFT.
So personally, I believe that we shouldn’t overly endorse gaming to become rich in GameFi, but gaming instead should be focused on its very core, which is a game. GameFi should offer the opportunity to play and earn a cup of coffee after completing a task in the game. That’s an example and I believe that this will be a more sustainable model and it will be the one that blockchain games will move towards in the future.
SARAH: I love that, and as you said, you know, it brings more stability to the industry and bringing in these daily rewards, I think that changing the mindset bit, I really like that, it’s a beautiful answer.
THOMAS: Yeah because at it’s very core of a game, of games in general, to be played daily and to be something that we do in our leisure time, it would be great that we get rewarded somehow, to satisfy our daily life, rather than focusing too hard on the finance.
SARAH: Yeah absolutely, I love that answer thank you so much Thomas.
Thank you for joining me today, it was a pleasure having you on our series and getting some more insight into the Faraland’s gameplay.
THOMAS: The pleasure is also ours, thank you Sarah and thank you to all your web3earners.
SARAH: Thank you to all those that have tuned in and we will see you all next time.
