SARAH, web3earner: Welcome back to web3earner’s ‘Meet a Builder’ interview series, where we talk to the teams behind your favourite web3 earning projects. My name is Sarah, and I am thrilled to have Dan here with me from the Defina team.
In today’s interview, Dan will run us through Defina’s blockchain-base, anime game, that embraces NFT technology and allows true ownership over acquired assets in the game.
Dan, how are you today?
DAN, Defina: Yep, doing great, thanks Sarah for the awesome intro.
SARAH, web3earner: You’re welcome.
SARAH, web3earner: Would you be able to explain to us, what is Defina?
DAN, Defina: Sure, sounds good.
Defina is an anime RPG game built on BNB chain and also linked to Polygon too. There are so many fun things you can do, there are various factions, there’s four, Athena’s Aegis, Prometheus’ Fire, Ouroboros, and Thoth’s Book, and then there are various strategies. There are ten characters per faction and various game modes, like Adventure Mode, Guild Wars, Nightmare City, there’s also PVP Arena and the craft equipment. And then there are different roles for what anyone would like. We’re very happy to build for our community.
I think us having a community-first approach has really benefited us in so many different ways. We’ve actually on-boarded our team members, I was initially a moderator for the community and then on-boarded. And friends like me, Ariel, Kermit, Axes and stuff. They were previous members and now a part of our team.
We are very excited about Defina where the game is going.
SARAH, web3earner: Yeah, it’s beautiful stuff.
SARAH, web3earner: How can people earn with Defina?
DAN, Defina: Great question. I think your guy’s article covered it really well.
We have various ones, like if you enjoyed a more competitive scene, you can do PVP, where you fight in front of people for weekly prizes. If you enjoy more social experience, you can team up in our monthly Guild eSports tournaments, where you team up with 10 players and then fight in the tournament knockout style.
If you enjoy a more chill experience, you can play Adventure Mode, where you can pick up various materials and equipment. And then you can sell those on the marketplace.
We also have more creative features with our community. We have weekly events, such as creating memes, creating artwork, writing lore stories and any other fun activities we come up with. Whoever does really well in that, can earn also.
There are other various ways. If you want to be more advanced, you can merge different characters. And if you get real characters, you can sell off the other characters to other community members that are looking for that.
If you want to level up in adventure mode and gain more experience, you can sell off to other people who maybe are just entering the game, but they want to have a more head start.
There are so many different ways but those are the main ones, for sure.
SARAH, web3earner: Yeah, we love the community-centric vibe you guys have going.
SARAH, web3earner: And finally, can you give us a significant recent development related to earning with Defina and what impact that will have on people earning in web3?
DAN, Defina: Right, yeah, great question.
So for us, I think we spent the past one and a half years trying to figure out what to do for our next patch. Like, how do we go about that? And we really want to have a more social emphasis. So with our Guild Wars, having these community members team up with their friends. And then from there, we’re going to expand it more so that they can have more Guild members.
And then also, to have a more sustainable approach. So instead of daily grinding to endlessly earn tokens, there’s a more spaced out approach. So with PVP Arena, people can compete and then they can earn rewards weekly. And we revamped the economy so that it’s not constant ‘tokens getting sold daily’. It’s more ‘tokens getting integrated in’ where people buy various tokens and various equipment, crafting potions or anything else. So it’s a lot more sustainable. And we’re going to constantly revamp and improve our economy over time.
And yeah, I think there’s just so many new, exciting things about our patch, like new equipment, new characters and new ways to interact with your favourite community members. And we’re so excited to have any patches by everyone.
SARAH, web3earner: Yeah, we are very excited to witness Defina’s development. You guys are killing it.
Well, thank you for joining me today, Dan. It was great having you on and hearing about what you guys are up to. And what’s to come for the new year. Thank you to everyone that tuned in and we will see next time!
DAN, Defina: Thank you for having me Sarah. And thank you everyone for watching and hope to see you guys on our Discord. Hope you all have a great rest of your day.
SARAH, web3earner: Absolutely. See you later!
