SARAH, web3earner: Welcome back to web3earner’s interview series where we talk to the teams behind your favourite web3 earning projects. My name is Sarah and I’m delighted to be hosting Esther from the Enjin team today.
In today’s interview we’ll be covering engines product ecosystem and how they’re creating an advanced virtual economy through the power of blockchain technology
Esther, how are you today?
ESTHER, Enjin: I’m doing great Sarah thank you so much for having me, it’s an honour.
SARAH: You’re very welcome, happy to have you here.
SARAH: Let’s get into it, could you give us a rundown as to what Enjin is?
ESTHER: Yeah of course, great question.
Well a bit of history, Enjin has been here since 2009, so we’ve been in the gaming space since that time. Our CEO and CTO are huge gamers. They’ve been playing games their whole lives.
In 2017, they delved into the blockchain space and they both love blockchain and gaming, so they mixed blockchain and gaming together and then that’s when we created Engine Coin, which is like one of the first ever gaming tokens in the space. From there, we’ve been building up our ecosystem, as you say, so that involves our wallet, our Marketplace, our API and basically, what all of those services and products do is enable game developers. It can be indie game developers, mid-range game developers, enterprise, you name it, it can enable them to integrate into their games or apps or projects. It allows them to call requests and sync up blockchain data with their players, so their players in game can acquire NFTs or FTS in their games, and have them sent to their wallets. So yeah, that’s a brief introduction into Enjin.
SARAH: Great explanation.
SARAH: How does engine help grow the ecosystem of dapps building in areas like play-to-earn and utility NFTs yeah?
ESTHER: Yeah yeah another great question.
So how we help in that area is really through our products. One of them that I mentioned is our Enjin API. So projects or game developers can use that API into their games to call information from the blockchain itself and to also query data on the blockchain to see if players have a certain NFT, that’s just an example. We also have our Marketplace, which also has an API itself so users and game developers can use the marketplace API to generate custom sales or listings, so that their players in game can then list an NFT from that game or maybe they could buy an NFT in that game/
So yeah, we kind of help and pivot in a way that our products really enable that process to be as easy as possible. So if you’re a dapp or a project or a web-based application, one of our products will be able to facilitate that integration really easily between web 2 and web3, so it’s easier for web 2 projects to migrate to web3, which we know is a little bit difficult.
SARAH: Absolutely, you guys are the full package deal.
ESTHER: Yeah there’s a lot!
SARAH: And finally, what do we have to look forward to for Enjin in 2023?
ESTHER: Wow, yeah 2023, hopefully a big year. Fingers crossed for all of us.
2023 we’ve got amazing things. So we just released our iOS update of the new Enjin Wallet app.
I’d say two days ago. So we’ve already kind of hit it strong. One thing that I’d love to mention that we are looking forward to is our new marketplace, which is nft.io. And yeah we’re looking into Q1 of this year for our new marketplace. And yeah more updates to our API and definitely more things to look forward to.
SARAH: That’s very exciting you guys have a lot coming up, we’re we’re definitely excited to see it all unfold this year,
Thank you so much for joining me today Esther it was a pleasure having you on and hearing what you guys are up to within your ecosystem.
And thank you to everyone that has tuned in today and we will see you next time.
ESTHER: Amazing, yeah thank you so much for having me, we really appreciate it.
