Browse Web3 and Earn With Carbon

Web2 browsers share some common problems: A lack of user privacy and limited accessibility to web3 features even as it gains traction as the next iteration of the internet. Carbon is one of the few web browsers attempting to tackle these problems while innovating for web3.

Carbon is a fast, secure, privacy-focused web browser developed by Carbon X Labs based on a custom fork of the Chromium framework. Carbon’s privacy features automatically block online ads and web trackers, making the browser faster and providing a smoother browsing experience. It also has web3 features that help users manage their data and also allow them to earn from it.
Carbon browser has existed since 2016, initially as an Android web2 browser. It recently began upgrading to add web3 features (in-built crypto wallet, ENS, etc.) and improve its privacy and ad-block features.
Following its $CSIX token launch in January, the browser has witnessed an influx of users, recording over 5 million downloads and more than 1 million monthly active users.
How Does the Carbon Browser Work?
Carbon operates like any regular web browser, except it has additional features that make it web3 compatible, like allowing users to access several decentralized apps (dApps).
Most of these features are still in development and are expected to be implemented before the year’s end. Carbon already rolled out a few features this year, including its native cryptocurrency, $CSIX, and zkSync integration for faster transactions.
$CSIX plays a vital role in the Carbon ecosystem. It is used as an incentive for users in the upcoming rewards program and as currency in the Carbon AdX marketplace. Advertisers can buy ad spots from publishers in this self-serving hub powered by the Carbon browser.
In time, Carbon will receive updates that allow greater web3 accessibility via additional add-ons and integrations, an NFT gallery for managing collections, a non-custodial multi-chain crypto wallet, and more.
To tackle privacy issues, the browser features an in-built VPN, decentralized VPN, and firewall that encrypts user traffic and secures connections. The browser does not require KYC registration and is completely decentralized with a non-custodial wallet. Therefore, a user’s data cannot be collected.
Carbon is also powered by Eyeo’s superior ad filtering and blocking technology which restricts the peskier ads and shows only those supported by the acceptable ads program. This translates to a faster browsing experience as the sites no longer have to load numerous ad assets.
All of Carbon’s features are free to use. However, users will be able to upgrade to Carbon Pro with $CSIX for enhanced privacy, better ad-blocking capabilities, and more rewards.
How to Earn with Carbon
When using the Carbon browser, you will receive $CSIX via the browse-to-earn program. Your reward amount varies by your location and is distributed daily. The rewards program is currently unavailable but will launch in Q3 of 2023.
Staking is another way to earn $CSIX. You can lock your tokens for a 60 to 180-day period to earn $CSIX rewards with up to 15% APY. You may have to buy CSIX tokens from exchanges since you currently can’t get them for free.
Users can spend their $CSIX rewards on Carbon’s partner networks, including Amazon, Ebay, and selected charities.
Carbon browser is currently limited to Android devices but has plans to expand to PC and iOS devices. iOS support is already in development and scheduled for a Q2 launch with the AdX marketplace.
Carbon web3 browser is a new project aiming to challenge Brave’s dominance of the web3 browser space, with exciting features in store. Now is a great time to hop on the project and perhaps earn some early adopter rewards. Just remember as always to do your own research!
